Mastering Portrait Photography Workshop
Students will spend six action packed hours learning the ins and outs of portrait photography, both in the studio and on location (weather permitting). Students will learn largely by hands-on practice under the guidance of our instructor combined with short lectures. All the methods and techniques taught in this workshop are used in the studio and on-location by us on portrait shoots. Students are encouraged to bring a model, see below in “Requirements” for details about bringing models!!
Workshop Topics Include
Location and Studio portrait techniques.
Basic lighting for portraits. Please see our Lighting Workshop for advanced lighting techniques.
Individual and group posing.
Flash techniques for portraits.
Matching the flash exposure and ambient light exposure to evenly light the subject and background.

Filters used in portrait photography.
Lens choices for portraits.
A digital SLR and lens.

Student will use their cameras in Aperture Priority/Aperture Value for most of the workshop and Manual for a part of the workshop. Students do not need experience with these exposure modes but they will be required to use them during the workshop. We will teach them what they need to know about these modes (Canon users will likely need to use Manual more than other camera brands).

If you would like to bring a model, you must e-mail us at least 1 week prior to the workshop for approval, no models will be permitted without prior approval. All models must who attend must allow all students to photograph them.
